'Put it right' for children

I went to the launch of UNICEF UK's 'Put it Right' campaign in London last week. This is a fantastic drive to improve children's lives all over the world.

Every child has the right to clean water, education, be kept safe - to have a LIFE! The UNICEF UK campaign highlights the lives of five children who are battling against the odds to have a good childhood:

- a child scratching a living on a rubbish dump
- a child who works seven hours a day making pots
- a child orphaned by HIV/Aids and now bringing up his 10-month old sister
- a child who does not have access to clean water
- a child living on the streets.

This is a wonderful campaign backed by high profile people like Sir Roger Moore, Lord Ashdown and Duncan Bannatyne

Every child in every part of the world is entitled to their basic rights as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - to life, family, security, a name, education, protection, to have their voices heard. These things are not a luxury or a privilege. Children need their rights now - children in Haiti, in Bangladesh, in Malawi, in England - children everywhere.

Congratulations UNICEF - we support your campaign to Put it Right!
